As part of the wide cultural offer in Mérida, the City Council, headed by Renán Barrera Concha, presented the Olympus May Season – December 2023, which is an opportunity to promote locally, nationally and international the innovative and creative proposals produced by local artists.
During the presentation that took place in the “Silvio Zavala” auditorium of the “Olimpo” Cultural Center of Mérida, the Municipal President pointed out that through the activities of the “Olimpo Season”, the Commune promotes and supports local talent, since The vast majority of the participating projects arise from the calls addressed to the artistic community with the City Council’s own funds.
Before representatives of the artistic community, Barrera Concha announced that a new theater will soon be inaugurated in the Municipal Dance Center, located in the west of the city, with capacity for 180 people, which will be added to the number of spaces where local artists can present their productions.
Similarly, he promised that in the following Olympus Season the Municipal Fund for Performing Arts and Music will increase from 3 to 4 million pesos.
“For us, the promotion of art and culture is very important, mainly local talent, because they are essential for the construction of a fairer, more supportive, humane, sensitive and happy society, which are values that distinguish our harmonious social fabric” , said.
Barrera Concha reported that in this edition there will be 254 activities in 29 venues in which 370 artists will participate, of which 17 are from the “Young Creators 2023” call and 36 from “Creators with a Trajectory 2023”.
