Viacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, stated on Monday that Ukrainian troops infiltrated Graivoron, a district located 65 kilometers from the border, with the purpose of sabotage.
“The Russian armed forces, along with border guards, the Rosgvardia (national guard), and the FSB (security services), are taking all necessary measures…” he detailed on Telegram.
The Kremlin backed these statements and asserted that the incursion is intended to “divert attention” from Bakhmut, an eastern city that they claim to have captured.
In recent weeks, Russia has been the victim of sabotage and attacks which Moscow attributes to Kiev.
