A Va y Ven bus from the Circuito Metropolitano route was involved in a dramatic accident when it crashed into a park in Mérida.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon-night when the driver of the mentioned bus was traveling in the Montes de Amé neighborhood, just in front of the Gran Plaza. At some point, the driver lost control of the vehicle and started driving in the wrong direction.
The bus ended up facing the wrong way on 75th Street in the mentioned neighborhood and before coming to a stop, it crashed into the median of a park in Mérida and knocked down a public telephone.
Fortunately, there were no people in the area where the bus ended up. However, since it was located next to the park, the support of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) was requested, and they carried out the necessary legal procedures.
It should be mentioned that it was discovered that this accident may have been due to a mechanical failure in the public transport vehicle, which is becoming increasingly common.
The bus was traveling on the eastern ring road of Mérida when smoke started coming out of the engine compartment, forcing the driver to stop and ask the passengers to disembark for their safety.
Although the Va y Ven bus did not catch fire, such situations are becoming more common and are exposed on social media. For instance, there was a case a few days ago where a bus got flooded after heavy rain in the city of Mérida.
