With the aim of promoting new tourist attractions and creating employment opportunities for the residents of the area, Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi visited Swing Island in the community of Chuburná Puerto.
This place is a venture into ecotourism and sustainable development. It consists of a set of palm-thatched huts and other attractions to enjoy the sea, have a fun time, and engage in various activities such as kayaking. To get there, it is necessary to take a boat ride of approximately 10 minutes.
The work on Swing Island is the result of coordinated efforts between the Municipality of Progreso and local cooperatives, an unprecedented initiative in which the municipal authorities have shown great willingness to support the ideas and proposals of local workers. In pursuit of this goal, courses were offered and uniforms were provided to cooperative members. Additionally, the parking area was organized, public lighting was installed, and the vehicle area was compacted. All of this represents a benefit for service providers and the community.
It should be noted that during the current administration, the rehabilitation of spaces, improving the public image, and attracting responsible tourism are projects being carried out in the city and all the communities within this municipality. “I highly recommend that you come with your friends, with your family, and above all, take care of it. Today, from end to end along the coast of the Progreso territory, we have a tourist product to offer. In Chuburná, we have Swing Island, in Chelem, there is Villa Pig Beach, and a new tourist pier is also being built. In Progreso, there are two boardwalks with over 50 attractions and photo stops, including the Meteorite Museum. On the Progreso-Chicxulub road, you will find the Jurassic Trail theme park,” stated Julián Zacarías.
