The timely intervention of the members of the Isla Mujeres Turtle Camp and the efforts of the government led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde resulted in the rescue of two sea turtles, which were successfully released back into the sea.

The municipal president of Isla Mujeres, Atenea Gómez, works 24/7 in the care of the environment and natural resources. Therefore, upon receiving the report of two trapped turtles over the weekend, immediate action was taken for their rescue.

The first turtle was trapped in the backyard of a residence along the coast of the Caribbean Sea, near the Colegio de Bachilleres on the island.

Immediate assistance was provided, and the turtle was rescued.
