A Beat car became completely embedded in a tree on the Mérida ring road after its driver lost control of the steering wheel this morning while driving in the southern area of the road.
The man had to be rescued by firefighters and handed over to paramedics who took him to a hospital in critical condition.
The vehicle was being driven on the inner lanes of the ring road, and at kilometer 10, the driver lost control of the steering wheel, apparently due to dozing off, veering to the left and falling into the central depression.
There, it crashed into the concrete base of a streetlight pole, then collided head-on with a tree, and due to the strong impact, the entire front part of the car became embedded.
Upon receiving reports from other drivers who witnessed the incident, firefighters arrived immediately, rescuing the man who was trapped and extinguishing the fire that had already started to engulf the Beat’s engine.
Paramedics provided him with first aid before loading him into an ambulance and rushing him to a hospital. Officers and experts from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) then took charge of the entire incident.
