The overcrowding at the Yucatán Family Convivence Center complicates the visits of dozens of parents to see their children, as reported by members of the collective “Todo Por Ti.”
A group of fathers marched from the end of Paseo de Montejo to the Monument to the Homeland on Sunday, as part of the celebration of Father’s Day.
They explained that they can only spend a couple of hours with their children, and many of them have gone “years without seeing them” due to the legal processes they face. Some can only see their children every 15 days.
Salim Marrufo Alam, the secretary of the “Todo Por Ti” collective, pointed out that despite the fathers complying with the requirements of the law, they have often been judged without being heard.
The Yucatán Family Convivence Center (CECOFAY) is the place where parents have to go for visitation, but the space is overcrowded.
He clarified that this group is not against women or promoting machismo but rather supports the rights of minors.
