Great La Plancha Park in Mérida: These are the advances in nine months of work

Nearly nine months after the start of construction on Great La Plancha Park, the progress is more visible compared to the illustrative images shared on September 20, 2022, when Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal flagged off the start of the project alongside Luis Cresencio Sandoval, Secretary of National Defense (SEDENA).

The advances are also more significant a month after the state executive made a supervisory visit on May 9, accompanied by Colonel Engineer Constructor Herminio Jiménez Velázquez.

During that visit, the area for the wagons and the future gastronomic market, auditorium, and amphitheater could be appreciated. Currently, the linear and circular walkways are nearly complete, while the space for the artificial lake is still under construction.

Likewise, the renovation project for the Yucatan Railway Museum (MFY) and the restoration of the railway cars also look promising.

The renovation of the new headquarters building is also nearing completion, and the wagons and machines are protected against rust and corrosion, awaiting painting and remodeling.

In that regard, the Facebook account of MFY shared the criteria that will be taken into account for these works.

The paint schemes planned for the cosmetic restoration of the six machines distributed in the park and the other five in the museum aim for the greatest possible variation of the designs used by Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México (FNM and N de M).

Therefore, it is expected to restore the numerals used by each unit and prioritize the schemes that have been seen in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Great La Plancha Park will connect with three other projects: the gastronomic corridor of streets 60 and 47, the IE-TRAM, and the Tren Maya. That is why the National Fund for Tourism Development (FONATUR) highlighted the work of SEDENA in the construction and reforestation of the area.

Likewise, the area where the IE-TRAM station will be built, from where the electric units will depart towards the Teya Station of the Tren Maya or even Kanasín, is being cleared.
