In a significant gesture to promote the well-being of the residents of Progreso, Mayor Julián Zacarías carried out the distribution of important social support packages to the citizens of the municipality. This initiative aims to improve the living conditions of those who need it the most and foster a sense of solidarity within the community.
Accompanied by his team from the Social Development, Citizen Attention, and DIF (Integral Family Development) departments, the mayor expressed his gratitude to the beneficiaries for their patience in receiving their support. “Often, I meet a citizen on the street who tells me, ‘Mayor, I requested a tricycle a while ago and it hasn’t arrived,’ and I tell them, ‘Hold on, it will arrive.’ And today, we are fulfilling that commitment by supporting over 1,000 families with various issues that were pending,” he stated. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of strengthening community ties and providing opportunities for the benefit of all. “Our goal is to build a more inclusive and equitable community, where every citizen has the same opportunities for growth and development. These support packages are just the first step in that direction.”
Among the distributed support items are the following: 6 wheelchairs, 8 canes, 10 tricycles, 30 wheelchairs, 370 food packages, 6 walkers, 10 pavilions, 66 sheets, 181 sets of hammock thread tubes, 50 frames, 68 tricycles, and 197 fans.
Overall, this represents an approximate investment of 680,000 pesos for the benefit of older adults, people with disabilities, families in Progreso and its communities, as well as entrepreneurs attending courses at the Community Development Centers. These supports were carefully selected to address the most pressing needs of the residents of Progreso, especially vulnerable families and disadvantaged groups.
In this way, Julián Zacarías reaffirms his commitment to working for the well-being of the community and ensuring a better quality of life for all inhabitants of the municipality.
