In a press conference held today at the Vicente Victoria Herrera Auditorium of the Marista University of Mérida, Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi announced the 16th edition of the “La Reta” beach soccer tournament, a sports event that promises to be a true celebration for fans and visitors.
Accompanied by Carlos Sáenz Castillo, the director of the Yucatán State Sports Institute (IDEY), Emilio Echeverría Castellanos, the rector of the Marista University of Mérida, Nancy Durán Solís, the director of Colegio Montejo, Fermín Molina Marrufo, the head of Sponsorships and Special Events at Coca Cola, and Alejandro Martínez Esteban, the director of “La Reta,” the mayor highlighted the importance of promoting sports and physical activity among children, youth, and the community in general. “I am pleased to announce the realization of this tournament, which will be an opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities and take advantage of the natural wonders offered by our municipality. Sports contribute to keeping participants healthy, united, and prepared to be better individuals in the future. That is why, with the purpose of transforming the city for the better, we, from the City Council, have organized events and renovated many spaces for sports practice,” added Zacarías Curi during the press conference.
This summer tournament will take place from July 4th to August 4th in a specially prepared venue located at 230 19th Street in Chicxulub. The participants’ ages range from kindergarten third graders to the open category.
