To provide more opportunities for the youth in the Municipality and support family economies, the Municipal Government led by Renán Barrera Concha announced that, starting this month, the call for enrollment in the “Computer at Home” program will remain open permanently.
During the delivery of 83 computer equipment at the multi-purpose court of the Integral Development Center (CDI) El Papa, in the Juan Pablo II subdivision, the Mayor informed that this program benefits students from various educational levels in public and private schools.
He also added that this program supports families who work every day to provide their children with better opportunities than they had.
He highlighted that “Computer at Home” is accompanied by other programs for young people, such as school scholarships and free scholarships for preparation for the EXANI I and II exams, free prescription glasses from “Ver por Mérida,” among others.
During the event, 83 pairs of Blue Free glasses were also handed out, which offer protection against the blue light emitted by electronic devices, representing an investment of $55,842.40 pesos.
Barrera Concha stated that the “Computer at Home” program has delivered approximately 800 laptops to date to secondary, upper secondary, and higher education students, representing an investment of nearly 10 million pesos.
He recalled that the Municipal Government provides computers of the highest quality, offering a 40% subsidy and financing for 60% of the total cost of the equipment over a 12-month period.
Finally, he said that individuals interested in acquiring computer equipment through the “Computer at Home” program can visit the service window of the Department of Educational Support at the facilities of the Social Development Directorate to complete their procedures and request information.
