In the last ten years, Mérida has stood out for its stability and social cohesion that underpin the municipal work to improve aspects required to continue being a functional city with equipment and infrastructure that guarantee sustainable development and an increase in the quality of life of its inhabitants, said Mayor Renán Barrera Concha.
Accompanied by José Collado Soberanis, director of Public Services, the Municipal President went to the beginning of Paseo de Montejo to supervise the new sweeper that was acquired in Germany to improve the sweeping and cleaning of the walkways of Paseo de Montejo, the parks, the passages of the Historic Center, the Tourist and Gastronomic Corridor of 47th Street and the Main Square of the city of Merida.
“Today a multifunctional sweeper with load capacities of up to 2,500 kilos with a hydraulic tipping system is added to the city’s work. It has lights for night sweeping; it contains a water tank with a capacity of 300 liters with water recycling system; it can be modified only by changing the accessories for the required service, either for sweeping mode or street washing system,” he explained.
At the site, Barrera Concha greeted Miguel Pisté Puch and Abelardo Flores Koh, operators of the sweeper and workers of the Municipal Public Services Department, to whom he commented that this new equipment could not perform its task if the human resources of this City Hall were not behind it, whom he thanked for their responsibility for Merida to maintain quality public services to live in an enjoyable city.
Pisté Puch, who has been working at City Hall for 30 years, said that this new vehicle will allow him to improve his work, especially optimizing his time, since it will make it easier to sweep the streets of the Historic Center.
“This new sweeper will lighten our work and we will do it even better, because it is also a pressure washer, which will allow the streets assigned to us to look much cleaner and nicer,” he said.
Pisté Puch commented that operating this sweeper will not be complicated for him since he has the experience he has acquired over the years in the Municipal Public Services Directorate.
“I have been handling machinery for many years, among them sweepers, now it is only a matter of adapting to the new technology, because we see that it is very well equipped” he mentioned.
In the supervision, the Mayor indicated that the acquisition of this type of work vehicles ratifies Merida as an example of transparency and financial care of the resources of all, where in a creative and innovative way, they are applied to continue making the capital of Yucatan a sustainable and functional city.
For his part, Collado Soberanis explained that the speed and pressure characteristics of the new multifunctional sweeper, as well as this state-of-the-art equipment was acquired for 5 million 243 thousand 258 pesos.
Among the features, he pointed out that it can be controlled from the cab, by means of a Joystick, with enough flexibility to adapt to road conditions and has a hydraulic lifting system.
“The driving or transfer speed is from 0 to 40 kilometers per hour. In addition, the Hako sweeper can be modified just by changing the accessories for the required service, either for sweeper mode or street washing system,” he exposed.
It is worth mentioning that the operating hours will be divided into two shifts: the morning shift from 06:00 to 14:00 hours and the night shift from 09:00 to 02:00 hours from Monday to Saturday.
