In response to a kind invitation from the naval authorities, Mayor Julián Zacarías attended a tour to supervise the construction of the Naval General Hospital in Progreso. The event was attended by Vice Admiral C.G.D.E.M Gabriel Alberto Báez López, Commander of the XIII Naval Zone, Captain of the Port of Yucalpetén, Capt. De Frag. C.G.D.E.M José Alberto Solano Claustro, Head of the Progreso Maritime Customs, Rear Admiral C.G.D.E.M Ret. Armando Caballero Vázquez, and the Chief Administrative Officer of the Progreso Municipality, Alfredo Salazar Rojo.

The mayor highlighted the work that the Navy carries out every day in this port and throughout the country. He also stated that “the modern facilities and suitable spaces for patient care, which are part of this project, represent a significant advancement in access to quality medical services and will contribute significantly to the well-being of the people of Progreso.”

The under-construction hospital promises to become a benchmark in terms of medical care for the entire region. The facility will have 30 beds with basic services in gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, internal medicine, and general surgery. It will also have diagnostic support services such as laboratories, X-rays, ultrasounds, and mammography. Additionally, it will provide emergency services and outpatient consultations for basic specialties, operating rooms, hemodialysis services, and a neonatal intensive care unit. The first building will house services and workshops, and the second building is planned to accommodate a hyperbaric chamber and physical medicine.

This hospital project is located in the port of Yucalpetén and is being carried out through a joint investment by the Navy and the Government of the State of Yucatán.
