In December 2022, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal revealed that the Multimodal Transfer Centers (CETRAM) will be implemented in Yucatán as part of the Va y Ven Amiable and Sustainable Metropolitan Mobility System project.

This aims to benefit public transportation users in Mérida and other parts of the state by providing a connection hub for various Va y Ven routes.

Additionally, there are plans to implement new transportation routes in the city’s districts, as well as in municipalities such as Valladolid, Tekax, and Tizimín.

The expansion of new Va y Ven routes continues in Yucatán, as throughout 2023 they will be integrated into Kanasín, Umán, and other neighborhoods and residential areas in Mérida.

Similarly, in December 2023, the electric transportation system IE-TRAM will be integrated in coordination with the Tren Maya and the La Plancha Grand Park.

How many Cetram terminals will there be?

It was towards the end of 2022 when Mauricio Vila revealed the implementation of the Cetram, which will be a total of five, located in the following areas:

Progreso
Motul
Carretera a Cancún (Highway to Cancun)
Umán
Caucel

What will the Cetram be like?

The Multimodal Transfer Centers (CETRAM) will provide connections with various Va y Ven unit modalities. They will have ticket booths, shops, restrooms, waiting rooms, sleeping quarters for operators, van platforms, taxi bays, as well as a bicycle lane.

Currently, the construction of the first Multimodal Transfer Center has already begun in Ciudad Caucel, adjacent to the Mérida Periférico.
