Governor Mauricio Vila shared on his Twitter account that the Va y Ven Transportation System has been selected among the top 3 mobility projects in the world out of a total of 300.
This recognition took place during the World Public Transport Summit in Barcelona, Spain, which the state governor attended. During this working trip, Vila Dosal met with the Honorary President of the International Association of Public Transport, Pere Calvet, with whom he discussed strategies to strengthen the Va y Ven system.
This recognition comes just a few days before four new Va y Ven routes begin operating in the west of Mérida, and a little over a week before the arrival of the first IE-TRAM unit in the city, which is currently on display in the Plaza Grande.
New Va y Ven routes
With 35 modern units, the new routes—Centro-Komchén, Centro-CRIT, Centro-Francisco de Montejo, and Centro-Pensiones—will start operating from Monday, the 12th. These routes aim to reduce waiting times and provide quality, comfortable, and safe journeys as part of the transformation of mobility in Yucatán.
