Yucatecan companies continue to uplift the names of Yucatán and Mexico while generating employment opportunities for local families, such as Proalmex, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Deliciosa brand. The event was led by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal.
Accompanied by the owner and founder of Productora de Alimentos Mexicanos (Proalmex), Abelardo de Jesús Casares Add, the Governor unveiled a commemorative plaque marking five decades of the company’s presence. Deliciosa currently provides 560 jobs in the state and has a presence in more than 10 countries across three continents.
During his speech, Governor Vila expressed his delight in seeing a 100% Yucatecan company grow, develop, and achieve success on national and global levels. He congratulated Deliciosa for raising the region’s name to such heights.
He noted that this company employs people from municipalities such as Umán, Tekax, Kanasín, Conkal, and Baca, providing opportunities for individuals in these communities and improving their quality of life.
Together with the Mayor of Mérida, Renán Barrera Concha, and the director of Proalmex, Astolfo Valenzuela Sánchez, Vila Dosal emphasized the importance of continuing to work for social justice, despite the prosperous times experienced in Yucatán. He emphasized the need to create more job opportunities that allow the population to earn higher incomes.
Governor Vila highlighted the historical times being witnessed in the state, with 2021 marking the year of the highest economic growth and job creation, while 2022 saw record levels of foreign investment and improved security.
To seize this moment, the Governor stated that efforts are being made to attract investments to the region through strategies such as “Yucatán Expone.” This year, the event has reached the Zócalo of Mexico City and Puebla, and there is an ongoing promotion of the region at the international level.
Additionally, the groundwork is being laid for the future of the local economy, with projects such as the two Combined Cycle Power Plants of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), natural gas supply, the Maya Train, and the modernization of the Progreso Deepwater Port.
After mentioning that the latter project will begin no later than October, as scheduled, he reaffirmed the commitment to make the necessary changes for continuous improvement, benefiting future generations.
Casares Add, from Proalmex, expressed the company’s commitment to Yucatán, as its members love what they do. He highlighted their efforts to revitalize and rejuvenate the brand through enthusiasm, technology, and digitalization.
Mayor Renán Barrera Concha emphasized the municipal government’s contribution to the strengthening of Yucatán by expanding the domestic market, promoting the competitiveness of local products, and improving conditions for entrepreneurs and business owners. He expressed his commitment to ensuring equal growth for all and positioning Yucatán nationally and internationally, showcasing the economic advantages and high competitiveness of Yucatecan companies.
He also mentioned municipal programs aimed at promoting local consumption, such as the Municipal Entrepreneur Center or Círculo 47, which provide training courses to enhance competitive skills and consolidate brands and commercial circuits while promoting fair trade.
Furthermore, he highlighted the municipality’s efforts to attract investment and maintain conditions of social justice, harmony, and public security, promoting Mérida as an ideal location for business development.
