With the experience of having won third place in the Pan American Championship and a ticket to the U-12 World Cup, Yucatecan Hernan Eliazar Chan Martinez now dreams of shining next month in the competition to be held in Taipei, China.

“It was a very nice experience. It gave me joy to face other countries and represent Mexico,” were the words of the youngster.

On his return to Yucatán, the Tekit native was received by Carlos Sáenz Castillo, director of the Yucatán State Sports Institute (IDEY); José Caballero Delgado, president of the Yucatecan Baseball Association; Raúl Ortega Rojas, scout of the Leones de Yucatán, and sports promoter Jaime Farfán Ruiz.
Chan Martínez was one of the 18 members of the Mexican National Team, led by manager Juan Morales, which took part in the Pan American competition, in which 8 countries competed.
The left-hander was the starter against the United States and also served as a reliever against Venezuela and as an outfielder in the other games.

Mexico took third place after defeating Panama and thus qualified for the World Cup. First place went to the United States and second place went to Venezuela.
Tekiteño was called up to the national team after his outstanding performances in the events endorsed by the Mexican Baseball Federation (Femebe): Copa Telmex -Telcel, MLB Cup and National Championship 11-12, held in the Yucatan Children’s and Youth League.
Eliazar Chan’s path at the national level began in February 2022, when he was selected in the tryout held by the Yucatan Baseball Association and the Leones de Yucatan.
