A group of British people participated in a gastronomic workshop in London, England, organized by the Secretariat of Tourism Development of Yucatán ( SEFOTUR), where the attendees made Mexican-style tamales from this region and then tasted the results.
Michelle Fridman, head of Sefotur, shared with the Englishmen the tourist attractions of Yucatán to promote tourism among Europeans in the region, where she highlighted the state’s gastronomy.
The event was held this Tuesday morning, June 13, in the capital of the United Kingdom, as part of the Year of Yucatecan Gastronomy, which aims to promote the distinctive cuisine of the Mayan region.
Brits make Yucatecan tamales in the UK
Friedman was accompanied by chef Wilson Alonso, who taught the British how to make the tamales; from the flavors, aromas, ingredients and techniques of the dishes.
The workshop attendees tasted the delicious chicken and bean tamales, typical of Yucatan. They were also able to take home the instructions for making the recipe at home.
The British ate the tamales previously made by Chef Wilson at the event, to close the event with a flourish. Yucatán’s tour of Europe closes in a few days with a visit to Spain.
