The “Distinguished Yucatecan” medal is an award given by the Ministry of Education of Yucatán to recognize the work of those who have a positive impact on schools and society as a whole.

Under the motto “Inspiration and pride of our land,” this medal has been awarded to personalities such as tennis player Rodrigo Pacheco, Aunt Evelia from Motul, football player Henry Martín, and Luis Pérez Sábido, just to name a few.

But this recognition has also been given to the founders of “La Lupita” taqueria, a traditional business in the Santiago neighborhood market, in downtown Mérida.

From June 2022 to the present, the “Distinguished Yucatecan” medal has been awarded to over a thousand members of the school community and society in general.
