Payment of fines through community work, the new program that the administration of Julián Zacarías Curi has launched. The mayor of Progreso, accompanied by the Head of the Ecological Police, Obdulio Mena Sánchez, supervised the cleaning work carried out as part of the Corrective Vests program.

The purpose of this program, which coordinates efforts between the Municipal Police and the Ecological Police, is to raise awareness among individuals about the damage they cause to the community when committing crimes that harm it, such as littering and disposing of waste on unauthorized streets and lands. Therefore, through community work, it is expected that offenders will make amends not only for their actions but also contribute positively to the municipality.

People caught committing similar crimes will be apprehended by the Municipal Police and handed over to the Ecological Police for the payment of fines through community work. These offenders will be identifiable by a neon vest with the phrase “Corrective Order Work” on the back.

Julián Zacarías urges citizens and visitors to take responsibility for their waste and, if necessary, to communicate with the appropriate authorities to address their needs and avoid being subjected to these sanctions. On the other hand, it is possible to make reports to the Municipal Police: (969)-935-00-26, Ecological Police: (969)-103-62-86, and Prolimpia: (969)-103-64-94.
