Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal launched the arborization works contemplated in the Ie-Tram public transport project, which in its first phase considers the planting of more than 1,500 specimens throughout the year. the section that goes over 39th street, the above as part of the Arborizando Yucatán scheme, with which more than 800,000 units have been planted throughout the state.

In the Emiliano Zapata Oriente neighborhood, Vila Dosal supervised the start of the work that in this phase covers road 39 of the Peripheral Ring to the Gran Parque de la Plancha, thereby promoting a greener and more sustainable Yucatan, with modern mobility and efficiency, for the benefit of Yucatecan families.

Accompanied by mayor Renán Barrera Concha and the head of the Secretariat for Sustainable Development (SDS), Sayda Rodríguez Gómez, the Governor planted the first specimen, of the maculis rosa variety, and verified the tree planting of the 5 kilometers of the section, which crosses 9 “Colonias” in the area.

More than 1,500 trees of different kinds will be planted such as: chakté, balché, bell, anacahuita, chacsinkín, pasak, chaká, ciricote, cedar, and the aforementioned species. Work begins with more than 600 wells and is expected to be completed in the next 3 weeks.

With the Ie-Tram, not only is a greener state being promoted but public transport is being completely transformed in the entity, since it will be the first and only 100% electric route in Latin America, with a type of vehicle that Currently, only circulates in some cities in Europe and the Middle East, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Mobility in the territory will be strengthened, by connecting 3 municipalities, more than 137 neighborhoods, 80 existing routes and 20 tourist points, while noise pollution is reduced, and the carbon dioxide they absorb is equivalent to over 170,000 trees planted for 10 years.

Likewise, its routes will consist of 100 kilometers, in 5 routes of high demand, which will link the first square of Mérida with the Faculty of Engineering of the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY), Umán, Kanasín, Poxilá and Teya, with trails for the public transport.

Through 32 units, the Ie-Tram will provide all the benefits of a tram, but with the flexibility of a bus; They can carry up to 105 passengers, of which 33 will be seated, and their performance will be up to 400 kilometers for each one.

They have an accessible design, with 5 sliding doors, a low entrance for the elderly and people with disabilities, signposting of places reserved for them, seating arrangement and interior layout, adaptable corridors, sound information and, in terms of technology, electronic collection, among others. other amenities.
