Aref Karam Espósitos, head of the Ministry of Public Works, mentioned that they will first work on the west side of this street and then on the east side.

He emphasized that the intervention of this part of the Corridor is under the responsibility of the State Government and covers 60th Street from 61st Street to the intersection of 47th Street, and from there to the end of Paseo de Montejo. The work is expected to last about four months, meaning it should be completed by the end of November or early December.

“In order to minimize disruptions, we will try to keep one lane open for traffic,” stated the state official, who also mentioned that they will be working in all hours, especially because working at night in areas where there are hotels would not be optimal for people who are resting.

He added that these works will connect the Plaza Grande with the neighborhoods of Santa Lucía, Santa Ana, El Remate, and ultimately, the Gran Parque de La Plancha through a Gastronomic Corridor. Sidewalks and streets are being renovated to give it a 100% tourist-oriented purpose.

Karam Espósitos mentioned that they are currently removing sidewalks to replace them with new, safe, and more inclusive ones. Additionally, there will be adjustments in the electrical infrastructure. Furthermore, a gas pipeline from a private company has already been installed in this area, which will provide gas resources to the businesses along the Corridor.
