Two minors, approximately six and eight years old, were abandoned in a cinema in Cancun, Quintana Roo, prompting the authorities to issue an alert to locate their mother, Ana Patricia Hernández Castillo.

According to the testimony of cinema staff, the children’s grandmother and aunt came to claim them, but as they couldn’t prove their family relationship, the minors remain under the custody of DIF (Integral Family Development) in Benito Juárez.

A social media user named Ivonne Bombón was the one who shared the story, stating that she was sitting next to the minors when their mother left during the middle of the movie and never returned.

“The movie is over, and we have been waiting for the lady for an hour, she hasn’t shown up, (…) if any family member recognizes them, please come for them with evidence that you are their relatives, they are scared. Please share. We asked them their names or their mother’s name, they don’t know or they are nervous because they hardly speak (SIC),” she posted.

Marisol Sendo Rodríguez, head of DIF in Benito Juárez, reported that the children are experiencing anxiety and neglect in their health and personal hygiene, and the older child is showing language difficulties.
