The summer vacation period for 2023 officially begins next Wednesday, July 19th, and a massive influx of visitors is expected to the Yucatán coast, mainly to the port of Progreso, where international tourists arrive aboard cruise ships.
Although the vacation period will last a little over a month, the Yucatán authorities were only able to manage the arrival of seven cruise ships with tourists, according to the schedule set by the Administration of the National Port System (Asipona) of Progreso.
The cruise ship schedule for the remote terminal reports that between July 25th and August 24th, six cruise ships from Carnival Cruise Line and one from Royal Caribbean Cruise will arrive in Yucatán.
For the first cruise line, the vessel Breeze will be the first to dock at the Yucatán port, coming from Galveston, Texas and heading to the island of Cozumel. This cruise ship will return on August 3rd and 22nd.
On the other hand, the Valor cruise ship from Carnival will arrive on July 27th, following the same route as its counterpart and making additional arrivals on August 10th and 24th.
Regarding Royal Caribbean, the Serenade of the Seas, a massive cruise ship, will arrive for the second time on August 5th. It made its first appearance in the Yucatán port on July 8th.
It is worth noting that in its recent arrivals, the Breeze cruise ship from Carnival brought 4,750 cruise passengers and 1,335 visitors to Yucatán. It is expected that the number will be similar or higher, driven by the vacation period.
In contrast, the Valor cruise ship has traveled to Yucatán with an average of 3,670 passengers on board and 1,130 crew members.
As for the Serenade of the Seas, which arrived earlier this month, on its first trip to Yucatán, it brought 2,516 passengers and 847 crew members on board. They started their journey in Tampa, Florida.
