A real traffic chaos was recorded on the Mérida beltway when several vehicles knocked down three high-tension cables.

The incident occurred at kilometer one of the Mérida beltway when a large and tall vehicle collided with a tree, causing several high-tension cables to spark, posing a risk to pedestrians.

This event caused chaos on the mentioned road, as vehicles couldn’t move, and it was also reported that a tree caught fire, requiring the intervention of emergency services.

State Police officers arrived at the scene to cordon off the area, awaiting personnel from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

Due to the risk posed by this situation, vehicles remained stopped for about 30 minutes, waiting for CFE workers to remove the cables.

It is worth mentioning that the traffic congestion reached 5 kilometers, affecting both directions, as the bridge leading to Umán was also congested in both ways.

After the cables fell, they were cut to clear the traffic on the Mérida beltway.
