Trailer ends up overturned on the Mérida-Valladolid Highway

Negligence and lack of caution while driving heavy vehicles may have caused an accident this afternoon.

In the afternoon of this Monday, a trailer loaded with cement was traveling from east to west on the federal highway from Valladolid to Mérida. Upon reaching the junction before the town of Ebtun, it turned right onto the peripheral road. During this maneuver, the driver allegedly lost control of the steering wheel due to the weight it was carrying at a considerable speed.

The blue tractor-trailer ended up with its wheels in the air, lying on its side and blocking the left lane. The driver reportedly escaped unharmed after the accident.

Some onlookers mentioned “Toreto” (a reference to a character from the movie “Fast & Furious”) as they watched the incident unfold.

Municipal, state, and firefighters arrived at the scene to assist while waiting for a crane to put the gigantic machinery back in position.

Rescue operations continued until 8 p.m. on the same day.
