With the participation of 150 exhibitors, the XXII Artesabal Fair of Tunich began in the town of Dzityá, where it will be held until August 7th.
During the inauguration of the event, which also includes artisans from Michoacán, Veracruz, and other states, Mayor Renán Barrera Concha celebrated the progress and growth that this fair has experienced.
“22 years ago, it started with only 15 exhibitors, all of whom were stone and wood carvers, and about 600 people attended. Today, we are pleased to welcome artisans from other states and see that the fair has become a great attraction.”
Barrera Concha emphasized that they expect a similar turnout to that of 2022 when sales of 5.5 million pesos were recorded.
“For the enjoyment of both adults and children, the fair will feature 40 shows throughout the 10 days, including performances by Los Méndez de Pilón, Mérida Big Band, Los Juglares, Banda Ysrael, two dance marathons by MVS Radio, the official sponsor, Tila María Sesto, and Ruperta Pérez Sosa, among others,” he stated.
Additionally, he mentioned that the Municipality of Mérida will offer free transportation to the fair, with departures from the Main Square of Mérida from Monday to Saturday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on Sundays from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
