Residents of the port of Progreso reported the presence of boas inside their homes in separate incidents that occurred in the late hours of Friday and Saturday. Authorities, who responded to both incidents, arrived at the scene to capture the huge reptiles that were causing fear to two families in the city.
The first incident occurred in the Revolución neighborhood, while the second took place in the Chelem district, where the boas were found roaming inside the homes. To prevent harm to the species as well as any members of the local families, authorities arrived to rescue the reptiles.
After capturing the two boas, the Ecological Police proceeded to transport them to open spaces in the Zona Cero for their release far from residential areas. Due to the rainy season, snakes often approach houses in search of shelter and food, so it is recommended to take precautions.
