With a route that will exalt various attractions of our state, on Sunday, August 13, the Grand Cycling Tour will take place in Yucatán, starting at the Main Park of Pisté, to end 500 meters from the Archaeological Zone of Uxmal, the competition will take place in two different modalities.
The main event will start at 5:00 a.m. and will cover 160 kilometers, while the Medio Fondo will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will have a distance of 70 kilometers, starting in Mayapán and ending in Uxmal, as announced by the organizers of the Vive Deporte company.
It should be noted that the Gran Fondo will cover the elite categories, from 18 to 39 years old; Master A, from 40 to 49 years old; Master B, from 50 to 59; as well as Master C, 60 years plus. Likewise, the second variant of the competition will focus on general men and women.
Cristian Castillo Novelo, Vive Deporte operations manager, stressed that the route will cross municipalities such as Pisté, Sotuta, Mayapán, Maní, Ticul, and Santa Elena, at a controlled pace of 30 to 32 kilometers per hour, with two stops for supplies.
For this reason, Castillo Novelo, accompanied by the mayor of Mayapán, Víctor Manuel Pool; as well as Carlos Sáenz Castillo, director of the State Sports Institute (IDEY), considered that the route will offer enormous advantages to attract tourism to Yucatán in terms of sports.
In this regard, Sáenz Castillo recalled that events such as the Marina Marathon, the Magical Towns races and the beach events of the Veda festival with kite surfing, bring together a large number of exponents, which generates an important tourist flow to Yucatán.
