Yucatan registered historic record in extreme natural temperatures

So far this year, Yucatan set a historic record in cases associated with Extreme Natural Temperatures (TNE), surpassing the maximum recorded in a decade, revealed the Federal Health Secretariat.

It also ranked among the 15 states with the highest incidence in the country, a problem that will continue with the prolongation of the third heat wave.

In a decade, the historical maximum of “Heat and Light Effects” was registered in 2014 and in 2022, with 23 positive cases. Even, in the State, so far this year it is the second health problem that has exceeded the total counted in 2022, as the first was dengue. Thus, so far there are 66 confirmed cases, with an increase of 186.96 percent with respect to the total in 2022.

The greatest problem occurs in Nuevo Leon, with 662 affected, 17.2 percent, followed by Tabasco, with 438 people, 11.38 percent, and Tamaulipas, with 330 cases, 8.57 percent.

In contrast, Durango and Tlaxcala, with seven affected, 0.18 percent, Hidalgo, with 16 cases, 0.42 percent, and Morelos, with 19, 0.49 percent.

Yucatan is in 15th place in the national table, with 1.71 percent, while in Quintana Roo there are 30, 0.78 percent, and in Campeche there are 23 cases, 0.6 percent.

So far this year, there are 3,849 cases in the Mexican Republic, with an increase of 254.42 percent compared to the same period in 2022, when the total was 1,86.

Unfortunately, at national level, heat continues to cause deaths, and so far this year, there are already 152 victims, unfortunate events occurred in 13 states of the country.
