In an emotional gathering, Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi led the reopening of the Progreso Basic Rehabilitation Unit (UBR), a facility that has undergone thorough renovation and now boasts modern facilities and specialized areas to serve the child and adult population.

During the tour, Julián Zacarías visited the multisensory stimulation room, a space that had not been updated since its inauguration in 2014 until this administration, and now features the most modern technologies and resources to provide patients with an enriching sensory experience during their therapies. In that place, the mayor stated, “In the UBR, we now have dignified and top-notch facilities to attend to 117 children and 210 adults who currently receive support and therapies.”

He also expressed gratitude to Juan Miguel Vera Santos, in charge of the direction of the Rehabilitation Center (UBR) and director of the Rehabilitation and Special Education Center (CREE) of the State Government, for the generous donation of the TOI Robot from CREE, another notable addition as part of this renovation.

The remodeling work also included masonry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and carpentry tasks, among others, to completely transform the UBR, giving it a renewed and functional appearance.

With these actions, the Progreso City Council, in coordination with the state government, seeks to improve the quality of life for residents and provide comprehensive rehabilitation services.
