The Director of the Agustín O’Horán Hospital, Marco Cetina Cámara, declared that around 34 cases of serious dengue have been treated at the hospital, so far this year.

This figure represents 10 percent of the total number of registered patients, although, on the contrary, Yucatán has not been affected by other diseases such as sika, chikungunya and conjunctivitis, and unlike other states where people are facing a new Covid outbreak, the virus remains stable in the state.

The state is in full combat against diseases transmitted by insects, although it is normal for their proliferation to increase due to the rainy season.

“We are in a rebound in dengue, of all the cases that we have, approximately 10 percent are serious, with serious manifestations, which have required hospitalization, both adults and children, although mainly in minors, we have had about 34 cases”, indicated the specialist.

Cetina Cámara also reported that the eastern part of the state has been the most affected, according to the reports they have received.

“Fumigation campaigns are being carried out, there are others scheduled, but it has really spread a lot,” he said.

In the same way, the doctor clarified that there have been very few cases of conjunctivitis, especially seasonal or spring; while the Coronavirus does not represent any risk for the entity, although in other regions of the Republic, infections have increased considerably.

“The Covid has been stable, we have not had any serious cases and it has really been maintained up to now, there are reports from the Federation that there has been a rebound, but here the weather helps, the virus has an increase when the season of cold,” he concluded.
