A few days after municipal workers found remains of an alleged witchcraft ritual in the Seyé cemetery, Yucatán, last Friday morning, two crosses made with salt with a black candle in each place were found in the town entrances.

Each cross was drawn on the side of the road, apparently, not to be erased by those who enter and leave the town.

On the way to the Holactún, a cross drawn with salt and a black candle was also found, although in this case it was run over by a vehicle and was blurred on one side.

Along the road that connects Seyé with the town of Acanceh, a third salt cross with the same characteristics as the other two was also found.

According to witnesses, at approximately last Thursday at midnight, local police received a call from neighbors in the direction of the cemetery that two people were walking around the place suspiciously and looking for a way to enter the cemetery. The police arrived at the scene, but the suspects managed to get away on a motorcycle.

Jorge López, director of the Seyé police, said that it is a matter of time before these subjects are caught and accused of crimes against health in their modality of violation of the burial laws and the handling of human remains.

In the salt crosses found yesterday, apparently rituals related to black magic, human remains were not used as in the three previous times.

In the town there is a tense calm and divided opinions. Some claim that this shows the fragile situation that the population lives; for others it is something that disturbed people do to sow fear in those who still believe in the esoteric and paranormal. Other inhabitants of Seyé point out that it is a hoax made by the authorities themselves to create an atmosphere of speculation that could benefit them in some way, since electoral times are near.
