Federal authorities carried out three simultaneous operations last Thursday in stores that sell products of Chinese origin Mérida’s downtown, which surprised people walking in the area.

The stores visited are on 58th street between 63rd and 65th, 67th between 60th and 62nd, and 69th between 54th and 56th, in front of the San Benito market.

The Attorney General of the Republic conducted the operation, which received the support of the public force, with elements of the National Guard, the Navy, and the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP).

According to the sources, the operation was carried out in response to complaints about products for sale of foreign origin that would have entered the country without documentation proving their legality.

Federal personnel were in charge of reviewing all the products on display and the related documents. The results of the simultaneous operations were not reported by the authorities.

The people who passed by the mentioned places were surprised and even scared because the yellow tapes that the authorities placed made them think that it was a more serious situation.
