A fisherman got seriously injured as a result of a collision on the high seas between a fishing boat and a recreational boat. The man suffered a detached ear, a probable shoulder fracture and other injuries.
The recreational boat named Mobi was speeding and collided from the stern with a river boat based in Chicxulub Puerto, in which there were two fishermen from that station dedicated to catching scale species.
The marine incident occurred yesterday at two in the afternoon near Isla Cervera as the fishermen know the remote terminal about eight kilometers from the coast.
In the boat were the fishermen José Guadalupe Figueroa, who was in command, and Chamaco Martín, who at the time of the collision was in the stern in charge of the outboard rudder.
The two Chicxulub fishermen were preparing to return to land when they were hit by the Mobi. Chamaco Martín was injured in the impact, fell injured into the sea and was rescued by Figueroa.
In the Mobi there were four people who were returning to Yucalpetén after walking and would have been in charge of reporting the accident.
A Defender boat from the XIII Naval Zone arrived at the scene of the accident. Medical personnel provided first aid. There he was put in an ambulance and taken to a clinic, apparently to the Naval Sanatorium. His health condition is reported serious.
The fishing boat and the Mobi were transferred to the sheltered port and were docked at the dock of the Aquarium Base of the Yucalpetén Harbor Master’s Office.
