Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi inaugurated the newly renovated Progreso Sports Complex, accompanied by IDEY Director Carlos Saenz, Local Deputy Erik Rihani, as well as council members, directors, and invited sports teams.

High-performance athletes, the sports community, as well as the general public now have state-of-the-art and top-notch facilities. The Progreso Sports Complex features a gym and a boxing ring, as well as ping-pong tables, multi-use bathrooms with showers and changing rooms, and two sets of dormitories that will provide accommodation for athletes. The outdoor area of this complex includes a crossfit area, a soccer field, 2 youth baseball fields, a basketball court, and a beach volleyball court; it also boasts an amphitheater capable of accommodating 315 people, pet-friendly spaces, photo spots, a small shop, and parking for 120 vehicles.

The “Athletes’ House” is now a reality that benefits thousands of athletes and hundreds of families, reflecting the commitment that Julián Zacarías’ administration has to the development of local sports. Similarly, in his message, Mayor Zacarías mentioned, “What you see now is only the first stage of this great project; very soon, we will move forward with a second stage that will include new spaces to add more sports disciplines that promote sports in our port.”

Furthermore, Mayor Julián Zacarías invited athletes and the general public to take care of these spaces and use them responsibly, so that the facilities can be preserved and available for everyone. Likewise, for any information regarding the Progreso Sports Complex and the use of its facilities, you can contact the Sports Director Romualdo Tec at (999)-200-71-47.
