Promoting teamwork and fostering the exchange of cultural, touristic, and economic experiences is one of the fundamental pillars of the City Hall, stated Mayor Renán Barrera Concha during the presentation of the first edition of the Expo: Discover Valladolid in Mérida.
“Our relationship with our brethren in Valladolid is excellent. While this is the first Expo, it is not the only occasion we have collaborated. What we aim for is to promote these ties and also allow the people who visit us in Mérida to discover all that this magical town has to offer,” he affirmed.
Barrera Concha emphasized that strengthening these ties with various municipalities in Yucatán helps spread the wealth of our state, stimulating local consumption and tourism not only in the capital but also in different points of Yucatán.
“Today, we present this first edition that will take place on September 1st and 2nd, where the tourism industry of Mérida and its residents will be introduced to the extensive touristic offerings of Valladolid. The event will bring together 25 exhibitors, including restaurants, hotels, and tour operators from the municipality of Valladolid,” he said.
Likewise, during a press conference, the Director of Economic Development and Tourism, José Luis Martínez Semerena, indicated that the event will be conducted in collaboration with the Association of Hotels and Hostels of Valladolid, the Association of Restaurants of Valladolid (ARVAY), and the Association of Tourism Promotional Agencies of Yucatán (AAPROTUY). The event will occur in two formats: the first is a meeting where major hotels, tour operators, and restaurants from Valladolid will interact with tour operators, wholesalers, and touristic associations from Mérida, fostering a business exchange between both destinations.
Subsequently, on September 1st from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM and on Saturday, September 2nd from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, an exhibition will take place at Remate Paseo de Montejo. Locals and visitors can explore the full touristic offerings of Valladolid to plan their visit to the magical town.
The event will also feature a cultural lineup to create the ambiance. On Friday, the Semblanzas Trio will perform at 7:00 PM, followed by the Folkloric Ballet at 8:00 PM, and the Trova Nova group at 9:00 PM. Additionally, on Saturday, attendees will enjoy the customary Mexican Night programming.
Martínez Semerena recalled that this is the second event organized with the Sultana of the East. The first was the Valladolid Artisan Encounter, held on August 18th and 19th, where over 30 artisans showcased their products at the Plaza Grande in the Yucatecan capital.
