Moments of tension were experienced in the municipality of Tizimín when an explosion was reported from a gas hose connected to a pipeline near a gas station.
The incident occurred at a lunch spot known as ‘La Huayita,’ located on 49th Street at the intersection with 24th Street in the center of Tizimín, right in front of a gas station.
According to information gathered, Thursday morning was proceeding as usual when suddenly an explosion from a gas hose was reported. This explosion is believed to have occurred due to the pressure from a 10-kilogram LPG gas tank.
Due to the gas pressure, a strong flame erupted causing damage to the exterior part of the lunch spot.
It’s important to note that concern escalated because the flames reached a significant height, and the mentioned lunch spot is situated directly in front of a gas station. Emergency services were quickly notified.
Fire department personnel arrived at the scene and promptly extinguished the flames.
Officers from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) were also present; they cordoned off the streets to facilitate the work of the emergency teams.
Additionally, a Red Cross ambulance was on-site, and their paramedics attended to a young woman identified as Rosa Margarita Xuluc Medrano, 23 years old, who suffered a nervous crisis. They also provided assistance to Esteban Ku Caamal, 60 years old, who was assessed and did not require hospitalization.
Fortunately, the explosion resulted in a scare as no injuries were reported, and only material damages were noted, including a shattered glass window and a burned awning.
