A woman of approximately 30 years of age, who apparently suffers from a mental illness, was rescued by police offices in the streets of Seyé, Yucatán.

The agents rescued the woman upon receiving a call from residents of the San Bernardino community in Seyé. They reported to the authorities that an unknown woman was walking erratically along the streets of the small town.

The director of the police corporation, Jorge López, went to the place with some agents to rescue this woman who was later found to be from the town of Espita. After learning this information, the next of kin were located.

The woman remained under the custody of the Police at Seye’s Municipal Palace where she was given due attention while her relatives showed up for her. This person suffers from a mental illness, which apparently caused her to leave her home, get lost and somehow end up in Seyé, very far from her place of origin.

Seyé is 86 miles west of Espita (INEGI)

Finally, the residents of the San Bernardino community appreciated the prompt response to their call, since this person could have walked to the Mérida-Cancún federal highway, which is just 300 meters away, and been run over by a vehicle.
