The flag of Yucatán is hoisted currently (unofficially) as a civil symbol. The flag was first flown on March 16, 1841 when it was hoisted on the Ayuntamiento municipal building in the “Plaza Grande” of Mérida, the capital city of the state of Yucatán.
For the first time since 1841, we carried out the official raising of the #Yucatán flag together with civil and military authorities, complying with the reform of Article 116 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States with the recognition of our distinctive symbol as an entity.
As a team we continue to promote cultural heritage and protect the history of the Yucatecan people.
