OTHÓN P. BLANCO, QRoo, August 11, 2023 – A trailer loaded with tons of sleepers for the Tren Maya had a mechanical failure that caused a fire in one of the trailers it was carrying, necessitating the support of emergency services to extinguish the flames.
The incident occurred on Federal Highway 186, Chetumal – Escárcega section, at the Sergio Butrón Casas junction, where the trailer experienced a malfunction that led to a fire in the second trailer, with license plate 49UM5J.
Upon seeing the fire in the rearview mirror, the trailer’s driver pulled over and detached the trailer that was on fire, then called for assistance from the emergency number 911.
