State authorities are investigating the cause of death of a man who was found lying on the sidewalk, today August 10, on 54th between 43rd and 45th in downtown Mérida. Although no apparent traces of violence were observed, the case is being investigated to rule out or confirm that it is a crime.
The deceased man was kneeling on the sidewalk, his face was turned to the side on the floor of a store, and even one of his hands looked as if he were holding himself up.
The report was given at six in the morning, when a citizen called 911 reporting that a man was lying there and did not react.
State police officers arrived at the site and paramedics checked the stranger, reporting that he had no vital signs.
It was observed that he had apparently vomited, and there was no sign of injury or bleeding. Personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) took the body for the rigorous autopsy and to wait for it to be identified.
The man is approximately 1.60 meters tall, around 45 years old, fair complexion, short hair, and he was wearing jeans, brown shoes, and a long-sleeved purple plaid shirt.
