In their daily report, Juan Vázquez, the meteorologist from the Autonomous University of Yucatán, issued a special report due to the potential formation of a tropical cyclone for the Yucatan Peninsula.
The specialist mentions that a broad area of Low Pressure located in the western Caribbean Sea is about 250 km east of the southern part of the state of Quintana Roo and is moving slowly northward and northwestward. Additionally, it is causing rains that are expected to be locally strong to very strong.
Likewise, he stated that the National Hurricane Center reports that a tropical cyclone could form this Saturday or Sunday when the Low Pressure area is near the state of Quintana Roo.
For Yucatán, heavy to very heavy rains are forecasted from today until the coming Sunday, accompanied by winds of 40 to 50 km/h.
It is recommended to stay promptly informed of the notices provided by Civil Protection authorities due to potential flash floods and other situations that may arise.
