The Yucatán State Public Security Secretariat (SSP) was honored by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) with the prestigious international “Triple Arc” award, an event led by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal. Among the 1,292 agencies registered with this international organization from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Barbados, only 32 have achieved the “Triple Arc” award. In Mexico, there are 86 registered agencies, and only 11 hold this valuable distinction, with the Yucatán SSP becoming the 12th to receive it.
Accompanied by the head of the SSP, Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda, the Governor received this accolade from CALEA’s Executive Director, W. Craig Hartley Jr. The award is granted for achieving accreditation in three of its programs: law enforcement, communications centers, and training academies. It reflects the significant emphasis his administration has placed on preserving and strengthening the peace and security of Yucatecan families.
In this context, Cecilia Lozano Cantú, the Accreditation Coordinator of the SSP, was also recognized as a “Certified Accreditation Manager” by CALEA. This recognition was bestowed upon her for her meaningful contributions to the field of public security and the international community. Only three individuals in Mexico have achieved this distinction.
Addressing the audience, the Governor expressed his pride in the SSP’s remarkable achievement. He congratulated the head of the SSP for the efforts in obtaining the certification. This certification is rare among security agencies worldwide, and it speaks to their professionalism, dedication, and willingness to adapt to meet challenges.
Furthermore, the Governor highlighted that it’s not only the SSP that has obtained certifications. The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), with its four laboratories, and the Women’s Social Reintegration Centers, along with the Specialized Center for Adolescent Measures Application, have once again achieved accreditation from the American Correctional Association.
The Executive Director of CALEA noted that the “Triple Arc” award exemplifies the commitment of Yucatán’s security organization and demonstrates their excellence in practices, eagerness to improve, and transparency with the public. He emphasized that accreditation demands strong, professional, competent, and dedicated leadership, such as that demonstrated by Governor Vila Dosal, whose efforts have established such high standards in the country.
