Two thieves seriously injured a cell phone store clerk with a knife during a robbery in Mérida’s downtown.
The events occurred on the night of Saturday, September 9, on 67th Street between 58th and 60th, in the first square of the city, where an employee of the store “Macroplay” was about to close the store when two subjects broke in and forced the worker to lower the metal curtain.
The worker resisted, so the thieves attacked him with a knife five times, took several cell phones from the store, and escaped.
Shortly after, the employee asked for help, and paramedics from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) and the Municipal Police came to the scene and provided first aid. Given the severity of his injuries, they took the employee to a hospital for specialized medical attention.
Agents from the state and Municipal Police of Mérida and the State Investigation Police undertook a search operation for the criminals. The inquiries included requesting recordings from the surveillance cameras of nearby businesses. Until last night, criminals were at large, but police already have their identities.
