The Progreso boardwalk almost becomes the scene of a tragedy on Friday, September 8, but an heroic waiter maneged to save the day.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m., when a visitor on the beach almost drowned after he went into the sea while intoxicated with alcohol and after having eaten food.
Fortunately for the swimmer, he was seen in time by a waiter known as “Toto”, who pulled him out of the sea and gave him first aid while paramedics arrived to treat him.
“Toto” became the saving hero of the visitor, identified as Eduardo Y., 44 years old, who ate, drank alcoholic beverages, and went into the sea.
The waiter gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and applied CPR to revive the visitor, then he received the support of an officer of the municipal police until they managed to get the visitor to react and expel the water, to the joy and applause of witnesses and boardwalk workers.
Paramedics from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) arrived at the scene and were in charge of stabilizing the tourist who was taken to a hospital.
