Tragedy struck yesterday afternoon on the Merida-Progreso highway, where there was a serious collision between vehicles that left two people seriously injured, including a minor, as well as a car completely destroyed.
At the scene it was found that at approximately 3:00 p.m. the driver of a material truck, at kilometer 32, upon realizing that he was having problems with a tire, tried to pull over, but behind him a Tsuru car was advancing, which apparently did not keep the proper distance and crashed into the rear at high speed.
As a result of the impact, a man of approximately 40 years of age and a girl of 13 years of age were trapped and were pulled from inside the twisted steel by paramedics from the Red Cross and the SSP, who took them to the hospital.
The road had to be closed temporarily to attend to the injured, which caused traffic chaos.
A few days ago in this same area there were two road incidents: a car overturned and ended up in the swamp and a woman skidded on her motorcycle, which was reported serious.
