Mayor Julian Zacarías Curi carried out a visit to the Traditional Malecón area of Progreso to supervise the services offered to visitors who come to this port.

The constant increase in cruise arrivals at the port of Progreso has triggered a coordinated and determined response from the Progreso Municipal Government, the private sector, and local cooperatives to provide more and better services to visitors and stimulate greater economic benefits for the municipality. This collaboration has also focused on diversifying tourism offerings both in the municipality and its surrounding areas, aiming to provide a complete and memorable tourist experience.

Today, the Carnival Valor cruise ship from Carnival Cruise Line arrived with a total of 3,112 passengers and 1,141 crew members. So far this year, Progreso has received a total of 62 cruise ships, bringing 272,409 visitors who have contributed significantly to Progreso and its surrounding areas, emphasizing the importance of understanding this tourism and offering services that encourage them to stay and enjoy the local attractions.

The tourist offerings extend beyond the port of Progreso. In the Chicxulub area, there is the Jurassic Trail theme park, while Chelem boasts the Villa Pig Beach and the newly inaugurated Megalodon Pier as attractions. The Chuburná area offers notable ecotourism opportunities with Isla Columpios.

Mayor Julian Zacarías Curi has shown his continuous commitment to supporting service providers in Progreso and its surrounding areas. This commitment is realized through ongoing dialogue and the creation of spaces to propose new and improved tourism offerings. Currently, the Progreso Municipal Government, through the Tourism Department, works hand in hand with the private sector and cooperatives to continue positioning Progreso as a renowned, high-quality, and safe tourist destination in the eyes of the world.
