Merida, Yucatan, September 1, 2023-. With the purpose of improving the urban image, as well as keeping the city’s arches in optimal conditions for the enjoyment of citizens and national and international visitors, the City Hall, through the Public Services Department, provides maintenance to these emblematic symbols of the city center, informed Mayor Renán Barrera Concha.

“The arches on 50 x 61 Street, 50 x 63 Street and 69 x 64 Street in San Juan, will soon have a renewed image to highlight their architectural beauty,” he said.

He pointed out that in order to avoid their deterioration due to the passage of time and weather conditions, they will be maintained once a year.

Regarding the work to be carried out, the Mayor said that since August 29th, personnel from the Municipal Public Services Department have been applying paint in the original ocher color to the existing color of the city’s arches.

“In addition, the stone is being washed with soap, brush and water, the arch structure is being washed to remove the verdigris and the application of ochre hacienda colored vinyl paint is being applied,” he said.
