The Honorable City Council, led by Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi, invites the public to attend the events that the Organizing Committee has planned for the patriotic month celebrations.
To proudly commemorate the 213th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence with a sense of pride and identity, the Progreso City Council brings you the following events:
On Saturday, September 9th, at 8:00 PM, join us at Emilys Local for the Coronation of the Queen of LGBTQ+ Independence.
On Thursday, September 14th, enjoy a traditional Rodeo starting at 4:00 PM at Mothers Park. The parade will end at the City Hall. Join us and immerse yourself in the experience.
Celebrate Mexican Independence Day on Friday, September 15th, starting at 7:00 PM at the City Hall Plaza. Enjoy various family activities that will make you proud to be Mexican. The events on this day include the Coronation of Miss Independence Progreso 2023, a performance by El Charro Enamorado and Grupo la Luna, as well as the traditional Independence Day shout for the 213th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence, led by Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi.
On the same night, the main square will host local entrepreneurs offering their products for the attendees’ delight. Additionally, starting at 7 PM, there will be activities at the Traditional Progreso Malecón.
On Saturday, September 16th, enjoy the traditional Civic Parade, which will start at the corner of 31st Street and 58th Street and continue along 31st Street to the City Hall. In the evening, don’t miss the activities and amenities taking place at the Traditional Malecón to entertain the night.
Mayor Julián Zacarías invites the public to celebrate this patriotic month with pride and respect. He also encourages the entire community to participate and enjoy these events brought to you by the Progreso City Council.
